Radio Adei Launches in Kabul on World Radio Day
On World Radio Day, new private broadcaster Radio Adei launched in Kabul, expanding news access while Afghanistan’s radio sector faces mounting pressure.
The newly launched station broadcasts 19 hours daily on FM in Kabul and provides round-the-clock programming via satellite and online platforms.
Radio officials say the station aims to become a reliable and responsible voice, delivering trusted information and reflecting public concerns and community needs.
Management says programming will include national and international news, analysis, talk shows, and educational content serving diverse audiences across the country.
Officials added that special attention will be given to programs addressing women, youth, children, culture, religion, and public awareness issues.
The station also provides digital access through its website and social media channels, allowing audiences to follow programs live beyond traditional radio broadcasting.
Earlier, Afghanistan Journalists Center warned that restrictions on radio activities have increased sharply, with some stations reportedly threatened or temporarily shut down.
The group also said media regulations introduced in recent years by the Taliban have directly affected radio operations, while some journalists faced detention or pressure.
Despite regulatory and financial challenges, the launch of new stations shows radio remains a crucial and widely accessible source of news and public information nationwide.
