Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Shirina Shi, American basketball
American High basketball player Shirina Shi is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Feb. 2-7.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Shi finished with 78.5% of the votes. Cupertino basketball player Katie Furey took second at 20.6%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Shi, a junior, scored 50 points across two games last week, adding 14 rebounds, three steals and eight assists as American beat James Logan and Mission San Jose. She poured in 31 points in the win over MSJ.
