2026's Best New James Bond Collectible Is Already Sold Out
Few 007 fans would list the 1979 film Moonraker as their favorite James Bond film of all time. After planning to follow-up The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) with For Your Eyes Only, EON switched gears and decided a sci-fi Bond was the way to go, following the success of the success Star Wars. And so, Moonraker was born, a very loose adaptation of Ian Fleming's third Bond novel ever, published in 1955. Moonraker the film has a lot to love in it, even if its never quite excellent as a film. But, one of the most undeniably awesome aspects of the film is the score from legendary composer John Barry.
A limited edition new double LP of the Moonraker soundtrack was just released by La-La Land Records. It's definitely the coolest James Bond collectible released so far in 2026, and it perfectly showcases why a classic Bond film with a Barry score is almost always better than one with a different composer. If you're a vinyl collector, the new James Bond Moonraker record is incredible. Not only does it showcase John Barry's lush score for the 1979 film, it also contains alternate versions of the title track, which, in the film was the third and final Bond theme sung by Shirley Bassey. At the time, Barry hadn't scored a Bond film since 1974's The Man With the Golden Gun, and other Roger Moore Bond film prior to Moonraker — Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me — were scored by George Martin and Marvin Hamlisch, respectively.
So, Moonraker was something of a homecoming from Barry, who would go on to score every single Bond movie from 1979 to 1987, except the film that followed Moonraker, 1981's For Your Eyes Only. The Moonraker score feels big and epic, with plenty of sci-fi influences, but Barry also took Bond back to his sonic roots. The proof? This is the only Roger Moore Bond film that includes the alternative action theme "007," which can be heard during a great boat chase in South America.
