Tottenham open talks with manager Juventus sacked after eight-game winless run
Tottenham Hotspur have made advances towards an experienced Croatian manager, who has been out of work since October of last year.
Various managers have been mooted as potential replacements for Thomas Frank over the last 48 hours as Spurs accelerate their managerial search.
According to reports, Tottenham have spoken to Mauricio Pochettino about returning to the club, while former Brighton boss, Roberto De Zerbi, is also thought to be in the running for the Spurs job after leaving Marseille.
It has also been claimed that Spurs have shortlisted two German coaches, Marco Rose and Edin Terzic, as potential Frank replacements.
Tottenham have contracted Igor Tudor
Journalist Matteo Moretto has now revealed that Igor Tudor is also on Tottenham’s list of managerial targets.
Tudor, who has had managerial jobs in his native Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Italy and France, most recently managed Juventus, parting ways with the Old Lady back in October of last year after the Bianconeri went eight games without a win.
Moretto asserts that the 47-year-old has emerged as a ‘strong candidate’ for the Tottenham job and that the Lilywhites have already contacted him.
The journalist wrote on X: “Exclusive: Tottenham is considering Igor Tudor. He is a strong candidate for the bench, first contacts already underway.”
What style of football is Tudor known for?
Tudor has a mixed record across his career, and has won just one trophy as a manager: the Croatian Cup in 2012–13 with Hajduk Split.
However, the experienced Croat is known for implementing an aggressive and front-footed style of play.
In fact, while taking over at Marseille back in 2022, Tudor said about his philosophy (via GFFN): “I want courageous and intensive football, not only uniquely based on the defence. I want people who come to the stadium to be entertained and not disappointed.”
