Feeling Shit
Afternoon all. Yesterday me and 5 others dressed up in our Number 1s and carried one of our best mates on our shoulders on his final journey.
He had a mental health crisis and took his own life aged just 40, leaving behind two kids, a loving wider family and more friends than he could have ever dreamed of, he was an incredibly devoted dad and I spoke and cried with him in all four corners of the globe about how leaving our kids for so much if their lives was such a tough thing to do, and wondered about how much it may damage them.
I had tried to get hold of him in the days before as I knew he was struggling, if I'd known how much then I'd have driven round and kicked his door down to speak to him.
Not looking for attention or even any replies, I just want to say that 'success' by any metrics you apply doesnt mean happiness or peace, and the only conversation you will ever really regret is the one you don't get the chance to have with someone. If you're struggling, reach out, if one of your mates is off, ask and ask again. The sad thing is we never know how much support we have until they are stood around saying goodbye to us, and it's too late by then.
Oh, and be nice to strangers, you have no idea what they might be going through or how close to the edge they are.
