Tottenham and Chelsea deemed two leading contenders to sign £67m striker
An Italian journalist has talked up Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing a centre-forward who has scored 64 goals in 162 outings for his current club.
After a disappointing January transfer window, the focus of Johan Lange and Tottenham’s recruitment team shifts to the summer.
It has already been reported that Spurs are plotting an ambitious summer window, which is why they decided not to panic buy in January.
The club would likely be keen on strengthening their forward line, given their struggles for goals this season, and they have now been deemed one of the frontrunners to land a Serie A star.
Tottenham battling Chelsea for Dusan Vlahovic
Juventus paid £67m to land Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January of 2022, and while he has had some decent spells at Turin, he has never appeared entirely settled at the club.
Tottenham reportedly enquired about the Juve striker in January, and it has emerged over recent days that the Lilywhites could go back in for the Serbian in the summer, when his contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out.
Journalist Carlo Pellegatti has now backed up other sources by saying that a move to England appears likely for Vlahovic, who is wanted by both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Pellegatti said (via IlMilanista): “Chelsea and Tottenham, and therefore England, could be in pole position for Dusan Vlahovic’s future.”
Spurs may have one less competitor to worry about in Vlahovic race
The striker is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-Italian clubs as he is in the final six months of his deal in Turin.
Reports from Italy over recent days have claimed that Vlahovic has held talks with AC Milan regarding a free transfer, but Pellegatti has insisted that the striker’s and his agent’s demands are likely to prove too expensive for the Rossoneri.
The journalist added: “I’m not surprised, because his agent’s commission demands are very high. He himself wants a signing bonus. The financial negotiations are very complicated and, in my opinion, excessive for Milan at this time.
“Giorgio Furlani buys players up to €30m, but above that he needs a countersignature. This is why Vlahovic, also for this reason, is more complicated than expected.”
