Leatherman Just Unveiled Its Smallest Multitool Yet
Leatherman just debuted its most affordable and compact multitool yet with the release of the Leatherman OPNR. This minimalist EDC may not look like much on the surface, but it's a suprisingly useful multi-tool.
As its name suggests, the OPNR is focused on opening things. The larger opening functions as a bottle opener, which is always handy to have in your pocket. There’s also a flattened corner which functions as a pry bar/ flathead screwdriver. A small sharpened notch in the flattened head of the screwdriver tip opens packages. If your household is like mine and receives enough packages that you’re on a first name basis with your Amazon driver, then it’s a feature that will see almost daily use.
Leatherman says the tool has four functions, which is being generous given that one of them is a keychain hole.

Leatherman’s Smallest EDC
The OPNR isn’t Leatherman’s only keychain EDC. The Leatherman Micra has been a fixture on my keychain for more than 25 years and through five vehicles. But while the Micra is certainly compact, the OPNR is tiny in comparison. Weighing in at a scant 14.8 grams and measuring just 2.6 inches long, it's small enough to carry on your keychain, in your pocket, or even in your wallet without being noticeable. The Micra more functions, but you won’t have to relinquish the OPNR at a TSA checkpoint.
The Brand’s Most Affordable Pocket Knife
I’ve gotten my hands on many Leatherman EDCs over the years, so I can attest to their build quality. Along with the Micra, I also own the impressive Leatherman ARC. While the OPNR is on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to size and functions, you can count on it retaining the same top notch build quality Leatherman is known for.
Leatherman EDCs are premium tools that come with premium price tag. The ARC, for example, is one of the priciest EDCs you can buy. The OPNR is an exception. Leatherman is selling this little EDC for just $10, a reasonable price for this handy little multi-tool.
