Maxx Crosby Praises Patriots Coaches While Debating Will Campbell Move
As the offseason hot stove ignites around him, Maxx Crosby made some potentially eye-raising comments about the New England Patriots.
Crosby reacted to New England’s Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks on his “The Rush With Maxx Crosby” podcast. The star Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher said the Patriots shouldn’t move left tackle Will Campbell following a disastrous postseason.
“I don’t think you panic and move him right away,” Crosby said. “I think there are some technical things he needs to work on. I think his confidence needs a lot of working on.”
The five-time Pro Bowler believes New England’s coaching staff can fix Campbell’s issues.
“You picked him top five to be a top-five pick at tackle,” Crosby said of last year’s No. 4 overall selection. “I think you get in the offseason, work with him. Get the coaching, the development right. I know they got great coaches over there. They got to get him right, and confidence comes from preparation. And I think they do a great job over there with that in New England, so I don’t think you pull the trigger yet.”
Crosby’s assessment of Campbell’s predicament may take a back seat as fans pay more attention to his Patriots praise.
The 28-year-old spoke fondly of New England’s coaches a week after The Athletic’s Dianna Russini claimed Crosby once said he wants to play for Mike Vrabel. He tried to downplay the speculation, but additional rumors suggest he may want to leave the Raiders after seven seasons.
On the heels of an AFC title, the Patriots could emerge as a top suitor for Crosby if the Raiders shop the superstar.
