However, the group still owns a large portfolio of valuable consumer brands. These collectively generated €50bn of sales and an 18% operating margin last year – not a terrible result. The divisional breakdown shows recent trends continuing, with Personal Care, Beauty amp; Wellbeing outperforming Food and Home Care. Guidance for the year ahead is for sales growth at the lower end of the target range, but margins are expected to hold firm and management do expect at least 2% volume growth.
