Robbie Keane offers four-word reaction to Tottenham Hotspur job rumours
Robbie Keane has given a straightforward answer when asked about taking over from Thomas Frank at Tottenham.
Even before Thomas Frank’s sacking, Keane was named as one of the favourites to take over at Spurs, on the back of the impressive work that he has done at Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
The 45-year-old won the Hungarian title last term, and his team are currently sitting at the top of the league this term while also sealing qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Keane, who played 306 times for the Lilywhites across two spells, scoring 122 goals and registering 43 assists, has now given an interesting response about the Spurs hotseat.
Robbie Keane reacts to rumours linking him with Tottenham job
Ferencvaros beat Csakvar 4-0 on Wednesday to return to the summit of the standings, and the Irishman was predictably asked about the Spurs job in the post-match press conference.
However, the Tottenham legend decided to keep his cards close to his chest, giving a rather blunt response to the question.
When Keane was asked by a journalist if he expected an offer from Spurs, he simply responded: “I can’t help speculation”, and shrugged his shoulders.
Two factors could prevent Spurs from appointing Keane
Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge revealed on Wednesday that Michael Dawson wants Tottenham to appoint Keane.
However, Bridge explained that the former Spurs striker may not accept an interim role if that is the direction the Lilywhites choose to go.
It was previously reported by Football Insider that Keane’s inexperience at the top level may prevent Tottenham from prioritising him as a managerial candidate.
