Former Dortmund boss ‘would be interested’ in Tottenham job after rejecting other roles
Who will take over at Tottenham next is anyone’s guess, but there is one man who has made it pretty clear that he wants the job.
Thomas Frank has gone, and Spurs are now hunting for yet another manager. Whether that manager will be on a short-term basis until the end of the season or a long-term successor remains to be seen.
We do know that Tottenham want a new manager by Monday, which makes sense, given the North London Derby is just 11 days away.
Some managers have thrown their hat into the ring for the Spurs job already, and it seems another candidate wants to be added to the list.
Edin Terzic would take Tottenham job
While Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be at the top of Tottenham’s shortlist, and the likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Robbie Keane are strong options, there are plenty of names on the club’s radar.
According to The Telegraph, former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic could be one of them. While no approach has been made yet, it’s said Terzic “would be interested” in taking on the Spurs job if he is offered the chance.
The German coach has been out of work since the summer of 2024, but has rejected “several” high-profile jobs across Europe, including most notably the Monaco managerial position. It’s believed Terzic is holding out for a chance to work in the Premier League.
Terzic has been linked with Spurs in the past, but the stars may now have aligned for him to finally get his opportunity in England.
Terzic’s managerial record so far
Obviously, Terzic has spent the majority of his coaching career in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. He’s had two stints as manager there.
His first spell began as a caretaker role, during which time he won two of his three matches and was subsequently given the job full-time. Terzic added another 18 wins from the following 29 games, plus four draws and seven defeats.
In the summer of 2021, Terzic stepped up to become technical director at Dortmund instead. However, the following summer he was back in the dugout again.
He took charge of a further 96 matches, winning 55, drawing 20, and losing 21. At the end of the 2023/24 campaign, however, Terzic resigned from his post in dramatic circumstances, after clashing with senior players over his methods and his tactics.
Overall, Terzic has 75 wins from 128 matches at Dortmund, giving him a 58.59% win rate.
It’s worth noting he has also worked as an assistant manager at West Ham, collaborating with Slaven Bilic for more than two years. Terzic also held the same role at Besiktas alongside Bilic for 92 games.
