One manager candidate sees Tottenham as 'the next logical step' in his career
A new report has shed light on what Tottenham’s managerial target, Roberto De Zerbi, is thinking about replacing Thomas Frank.
De Zerbi parted ways with Marseille just hours before Frank departed Spurs, and the Italian is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League.
Unsurprisingly, it has emerged that the former Brighton boss is one of the candidates being considered by Tottenham as they attempt to bring a new manager through the door.
It was reported last month that Spurs may face competition from Man United for De Zerbi, and a new update has now shed light on whether the Italian would be open to a move to North London.
Roberto De Zerbi sees Tottenham as ‘next logical step’
The I Paper have now revealed that De Zerbi is interested in replacing Frank in the Spurs hot seat.
In fact, the outlet claims to have heard from sources close to the Italian that he sees the Tottenham job as the ‘next logical step’ in his managerial career.
The report also adds that the 46-year-old is ready to get straight back to work after leaving Marseille rather than waiting until the summer.
Spurs facing a Mauricio Pochettino conundrum
It has also been reported that Mauricio Pochettino would jump at the chance to return to Tottenham, but the Argentine is not likely to be available until after the World Cup in the summer.
Pochettino has repeatedly professed his love for Spurs, and the Argentine’s arrival would certainly unite the fan base.
However, with the 53-year-old not available until July, the Lilywhites hierarchy potentially face a big decision on whether to wait until the summer for him or to push ahead with a move for De Zerbi now.
