7th British Winter Open starts in Rolda
With a wetter-than-usual early season in Roldanillo, the 7th British Winter Open got underway with great conditions.
Richard Meek reports;-“It was a fast and furious start to the British winter open being held in Roldanillo, Colombia. The field were treated to classic conditions, much improved from the moisture heavy weather that has beset the region for the last few weeks.”
The field was tightly packed for half of the race until there was a split in the lead gaggle and then Kevin Phillip managed to escape on his own.
Kevin pressed on boldly for 20 km managing to cross end of speed (ESS) nine minutes ahead of the gaggle which saw 37 pilots make goal within five minutes.
Glory for some, agony for others. Eleven pilots made end of speed but missed goal, some by as little as 20m.
Good luck to all competitors in the days ahead.
