Andrew ‘owes £12,000,000 to Royal Family after failing to pay off loan’

The Queen reportedly forked out £7million, while £3million came from Prince Philip’s estate (Picture: Anwar Hussein/Getty Images)

The late Queen, Prince Philip and King Charles reportedly loaned Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor £12million to pay off his accuser, Virginia Giuffre.

The disgraced ex-Prince is yet to pay back a penny of the cash, which was as much as £7million from the late Queen and £3million from Prince Philip’s estate after his death, the Sun reports.

The then-Prince Charles is said to have chipped in £1.5million to cover the 2022 out-of-court settlement with Giuffre, who was one of the most prominent sex trafficking victims of Epstein.

She accused Andrew of assaulting her on three occasions when she was 17 and she sued the former Duke of York in 2021.

Andrew has repeatedly denied her claims, but he agreed to pay her an undisclosed sum as an out-of-court settlement in 2022.

Giuffre was found dead in her Australian home on April 25, 2025.

Now it has been revealed that this parents and brother forked out £12million for the settlement in hopes it would draw a line under the scandal before the Platinum Jubilee in February 2022.

However a source said: ‘Andrew’s not paid back a penny.’

It has been claimed that Andrew hoped to sell his Swiss ski chalet to repay the loans.

Those plans collapsed when he made next to nothing in the sale because plush chalet, in the Swiss resort Verbier, was saddled with heavy mortgage debt.

A source told the Sun: ‘As far as anyone knows he still has not repaid a single penny of the millions he borrowed.

‘The money from the Royal Family bought her silence but denied Virginia her day in court and the chance to openly challenge his account of what happened.’

The source claimed that the late Queen was ‘heartbroken’ by the Epstein scandal engulfing her son but ‘could not face banishing Andrew’.

The settlement was said to have been reached in March 2022, reportedly after Charles and other royals urged him to settle.

The agreement ensured Andrew would never have to face Virginia in a US court.

At the heart of her allegations against the former Prince is a photo which appears to show Andrew with his arm around her at the London home of Epstein’s partner Ghislaine Maxwell.

Andrew has continued to face mounting scrutiny over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein as more files are released about the peadophile financier.

Images released by the Department of Justice in the US also appear to show Andrew crouching over an unidentified woman in what appears to be Epstein’s New York mansion.

Thames Valley Police confirmed it was looking into claims Andrew divulged confidential reports from his role as the UK’s trade envoy with the sex offender.

Emails released in the latest tranche of Epstein Files appear to show Mr Mountbatten-Windsor sharing reports of official visits to Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Earlier this week, the King made clear his ‘profound concern’ at the allegations relating to Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct.

Buckingham Palace also confirmed it will ‘stand ready to support’ the police if approached over the claims.

The Prince and Princess of Wales also issued their first public statement about the Epstein scandal.

Kensington Palace spokesperson said: ‘I can confirm that the Prince and Princess of Wales have been deeply concerned by the continued revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.’

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.
