The company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cimulate and expects the transaction to close in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions, it said in a Tuesday (Feb. 10) press release.
Salesforce’s Agentforce Commerce, formerly known as Commerce Cloud, connects a user’s entire business, including eCommerce, point of sale and order management, on a unified platform and uses Agentforce AI to help the user’s teams with merchandising and its customers with guided shopping, according to the company’s website.
Cimulate’s platform brings together real and simulated shopper journey data to better understand shopper intent, provide more relevant search results and offer personalized discovery experiences, the release said.
When Cimulate’s capabilities are integrated with Agentforce Commerce, retailers will be able to use them to provide shopping experiences that are more personalized, contextual and conversational, per the release.
“The future of commerce is agentic, moving beyond simple transactions to intuitive, conversational discovery,” Nitin Mangtani, senior vice president and general manager, Commerce and Retail at Salesforce, said in the release. “By integrating Cimulate’s technology into Agentforce Commerce, we’re helping retailers close the gap between shopper intent and action, delivering experiences that feel more natural, relevant and effective.”
Upon the closing of the transaction, Cimulate’s specialized team will join Salesforce and support continued innovation in Agentforce Commerce, according to the release.
“Joining Salesforce allows us to scale our technology and put it in the hands of the world’s leading retailers,” Cimulate CEO and Co-Founder John Andrews said in the release. “Together, we can help brands move beyond legacy search to experiences that truly understand what shoppers are looking for and respond in real time.”
In a blog post on the Cimulate website, Andrews said the company’s customers will see no disruption to their current service, and when the transaction closes will gain access to new features and greater support.
In some other moves over the past year, Salesforce said it was acquiring Regrello to advance agentic process automation, Informatica, to enhance its agentic AI features, and Convergence to accelerate its development of AI agents.
