James Van Der Beek's Net Worth Revealed As His Wife Makes A Plea For Money For Their 6 Kids After His Death: 'The Family Is Out Of Funds'
James Van Der Beek’s wife has launched a GoFundMe to raise money for herself and her children after his death, revealing that treatment for his colorectal “left the family out of funds.”
“Throughout his illness, the family faced not only emotional challenges but also significant financial strain as they did everything possible to support James and provide for his care,” reads the description of a GoFundMe that Kimberly Van Der Beek posted to her Instagram Story shortly after announcing the death of her husband.
“In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future,” the description continues.
Despite Van Der Beek’s reported net worth of $3 million, the costs of his medical care “have left the family out of funds,” per the GoFundMe. Van Der Beek, who is known for roles in Dawson’s Creek, Pose and CSI: Cyber, is a father of 6 children with Kimberly—daughters Olivia, Annabel, Emilia and Gwendolyn, and sons Joshua and Jeremiah.
“They are working hard to stay in their home and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time,” the GoFundMe description continues. “The support of friends, family, and the wider community will make a world of difference as they navigate the road ahead.”
“Your generosity will help cover essential living expenses, pay bills, and support the children’s education. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Kimberly and her family find hope and security as they rebuild their lives. Thank you for considering a gift to support them.”
The GoFundMe set a goal of $500k and, at the time of writing, has amassed over $167,000 in donations after just a few hours of being live.
Van Der Beek announced his stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis in November 2024. His wife announced his death via an Instagram post on February 11.
“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning,” she wrote. “He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
