Band Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Reissue of First Album
To celebrate 35 years as a band, Smashing Pumpkins is re-releasing their first album, Gish, named after silent film star Lillian Gish. Apparently, the actress rode through the small town where lead singer Billy Corgan’s grandmother lived and she remembered this rare celebrity sighting with fondness.
Gish is now available on their website as a pre-order item.
What Songs are on Gish?
To jog your memory, here is the track list.
Side A:
1. I Am One
2. Siva
3. Rhinoceros (frequently cited as best song on the album).
4. Bury Me
5. Crush
6. Suffer
Side B:
1. Snail
2. Tristessa
3. Window Paine
4. Daydream
There’s no tour in the works that we know, but you can enjoy Corgan’s podcast, or listen to your favorites. Mine is Today, which is on the “Siamese Dream” album.
The members of the band have changed over time, but Corgan is the mainstay, along with James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin.
