Celebs Mourn the Passing of Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek
Hearts are breaking today, as the world mourns the loss of the truly beloved actor, James Van Der Beek. The star of coming-of-age classics like Dawson’s Creek and Varsity Blues, passed away on the morning of February 11, after fighting a long battle with colon cancer. In a public statement released on social media, Van Der Beek’s wife, Kimberly, announced the heartbreaking news, saying:
“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
The actor leaves behind his wife, six children, and a host of millennial fans who grew up watching the star on both the big and small screens.

Right underneath the aforementioned Instagram post, many celebs left their condolences. Golden-Globe-winning actress Jennifer Garner stated, “What a heartbreaking loss. So much love to you, Kimberly, and to your kids, as you navigate this tender time. ♥️”
Haunted Mansion director, Justin Simien, also commented under the post with, “Heartbreaking ???? What a kind and quietly powerful man. The grace you all held moving through this was super human. Thinking of you all today.”
