Ex-Girlfriend Of Norwegian Biathelete Responds After His Olympics Cheating Confession
The ex-girlfriend of Norwegian Olympian Sturla Holm Lægreid broke her silence after he disclosed that he cheated on her after winning a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The biathlete’s girlfriend, who wants to remain anonymous, responded to his declaration in an interview with Norwegian outlet VG on Wednesday, Feb, saying that 11, Lægreid’s infidelity was “hard to forgive, even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world.”
“I did not choose to be put in this position, and it hurts to have to be in it. We have had contact and he is aware of my opinions on this,” Lægreid’s ex-girlfriend. “[I am grateful] to my family and friends who have embraced me and supported me during this time. Also to everyone else who has thought of me and sympathized, without knowing who I am.”
Lægreid, 28, publicly appealed to his ex, who he called the “love of [his] life,” in a live TV interview shortly after his third-place finish in the men’s 20km biathlon on Tuesday, February 10.
“There is someone I wanted to share this with who might not be watching today,” he told NRK after winning a bronze medal. “Six months ago, I met the love of my life and the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. And three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her.”
“I had a gold medal in my life. I only have eyes for her,” he said. “I don’t know what I want to achieve by saying this, but sports have been a little different in recent days. So I wish I could share it with her.”
In a press conference later, Lægreid admitted that he was yet to hear from her, saying: “I hope I don’t make it worse for her. Maybe it can help, I don’t know. We will see.”
