Angel Reese rejoins 3x3 league Unrivaled with surprise deal
The rumor mill was right: Angel Reese is rejoining Unrivaled.
The Sky star has agreed to a new deal with the 3x3 league for the remainder of the 2026 season, Unrivaled announced Wednesday morning.
Reese teased the possibility on a recent podcast episode with her former Sky coach and current Unrivaled coach, Teresa Weatherspoon. Weatherspoon said she was fighting for Reese to return to Unrivaled, and Reese said she would like to, she just didn’t know when.
“Maybe you might see me, maybe you might don’t,” Reese said on her show, "Unapologetically Angel."
With three games remaining in the Unrivaled regular season, Reese is officially returning to her former team, Rose BC, on Feb. 20.
Rose currently sits in fifth place out of eight teams, with the top six qualifying for the playoffs. Returners Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper lead the Rose in scoring, but they're still only 5-6.
A little more Reese could be just what the Rose needs. It could be just what the league needs, too.
Though Unrivaled recently set the attendance record for women’s pro basketball with a tour stop in Philadelphia, TV ratings have been muted. According to Sports Media Watch, the league was averaging 103,000 viewers per game across TNT and truTV through January 26.
A splashy midseason addition could help generate some buzz.
“You entertain people, that’s why they get their butts in the seats to come and watch you,” Weatherspoon told Reese on her podcast.
Unrivaled's biggest names were hit by injuries this season, with Sabrina Ionescu and Napheesa Collier both having to sit out. The league created a development pool for younger players to train and replace injured players when necessary, but signing Reese adds more star power.
Reese has had a busy WNBA offseason with podcasting, fashion, business ventures and acting. She recently got a role on the Netflix show "The Hunting Wives." She also attended a training camp for Team USA in December as the team evaluates players for the 2026 FIBA World Cup.
Still, Reese said she missed Unrivaled.
“I miss the development,” she said on her podcast. “I can try stuff, I can do whatever, and I can take it and implement it to the W.”
In Unrivaled’s inaugural season, Rose won the championship and Reese was named Defensive Player of the Year.
This season, playoffs begin on February 28, with the championship set for March 4.
