Three TTP Militants Killed, Nine Wounded in Pakistan’s Bannu Attack
Three TTP militants were killed and nine injured during a midnight attack on a police post in Bannu, Pakistan, Pakistani media reported on Wednesday.
According to local media, the TTP fighters attacked the Khuniya Khel police post in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with heavy weapons but were repelled by Pakistani police.
The attackers reportedly aimed to seize control of the police facility, but the timely response prevented a takeover, with multiple militants killed and others injured.
Bannu district has experienced frequent security incidents in recent months, reflecting growing instability in the region and ongoing threats from militant groups operating near the Afghanistan border.
The United Nations has warned that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), headquartered in Afghanistan, has evolved into a transnational threat, raising concerns over cross-border militancy and regional security.
Acoording to the Pakistani claim that the TTP remains the largest Pakistan-based militant group operating from Afghanistan territory, frequently carrying out attacks against Pakistani security forces and infrastructure while Taliban deny the allegations.
Authorities continue to conduct security operations in the district to prevent further attacks and secure key installations from militant threats.
The UN and Pakistani authorities emphasize that counterterrorism efforts must continue, highlighting the TTP’s growing regional influence and the need for coordinated security measures.
