Two children stabbed in ‘revenge attack’ at school after pupil ‘climbed wall’

A mum has told how her daughter saw blood ‘smeared over the window’ after two pupils were stabbed in a ‘revenge attack’ at Kingsbury High School in north London.

A 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were both stabbed on school grounds yesterday afternoon.

They were both taken to hospital in a serious condition, while a 13-year-old boy who had left the scene has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police have said their injuries are now believed to be non life-threatening and they are in a stable condition in hospital.

Pupils were kept in the playground for three hours as emergency services attended the scene, and came home feeling ‘traumatised’.

One mum said her daughter knew all of those involved and that the boy who stabbed the others had been previously expelled and had returned to the school.

She added the second boy was reportedly stabbed after he intervened to save his friend.

She told Metro: ‘My daughter was in the next classroom. She told me she heard shouting outside. There was an alarm everybody was scared and then there was chaos.

‘A boy who had been expelled for fighting before had come back to the school to get revenge on another boy. Everyone knew the boy.

‘When my daughter was allowed to leave the classroom she  saw blood smeared on a window on a window which was very distressing for her and her friends.’

The attacker allegedly got into the school by climbing over the wall rather than using the main entrance which has security staff outside.

The mum added: ‘The attacker then used pepper spray to get into the class to launch the attack. When someone opened the door he sprayed it at them.’

Parents are now calling for tighter security, including metal detectors and more staff.

Mum Oanã told Metro: ‘What happened has deeply affected our family. No child should feel unsafe at school.

‘I strongly believe that school security measures across the UK need to be reviewed and improved to prevent something like this from ever happening again.

‘Our children deserve to feel protected when they go to school.’

The school was closed today for years groups 7-9 as counter terror officers investigate.

Janti, 60, told Metro his grandson was in the room where the stab attack unfolded just minutes before the carnage.

He told Metro: ‘My grandson has had a lucky escape he had been in that room just minutes before.

‘The boy came back to the school in his old uniform to get into the school as he was not a pupil any more he had been excluded.

He adds: ‘My grandson is very upset we see all so sad this terrible thing has happened.’

Mum-of-one Marta Feterlich, who lives 15 minutes away from the school, told Metro: ‘I am still shocked by what happened and I can’t stop thinking about it. There has never been any problems at the school previously.

‘I wonder if schools are doing enough to keep our children safe. I wonder why schools still don’t have metal detectors at the entrances, since even this boy is alleged to have jumped the fence where the security cameras are.’

Although her 16-year-old son is based in a different building to where the stabbing occurred, his mother insisted he stayed at home today to rest, as she was concerned it would be all the pupils would be talking about.

She said: ‘My son’s entrance to the school is on a different street than the one for the lower classes. The safety system, as you can see, isn’t working properly and that is very concerning.’

Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Flanagan, of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said: ‘This continues to be a fast-paced investigation and ‘officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London continue to make inquiries into the circumstances.

‘I can now confirm that the injuries suffered by the two victims, while serious, are thankfully not life-threatening and they remain in hospital in a stable condition.

‘Our thoughts remain with them and their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. Specialist officers are providing their families with support.

‘Increased patrols to reassure the local community will continue today. If you have concerns, we urge you to speak to officers – they are there to help and will remain in the area to offer support and answer any questions.

‘The 13-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remains in custody at this time.’
