Thomas Frank reveals when he last spoke to Tottenham hierarchy amid sack pressure
Thomas Frank has revealed whether or not he still remains in close contact with the Tottenham Hotspur board as his team continue to struggle in the Premier League.
There are few people more unpopular at Tottenham Hotspur right now than Thomas Frank, with the manager facing increased opposition from the club’s supporters.
The Dane has not overseen a Premier League victory since December, which has caused Spurs to gradually move closer towards the relegation zone.
However, those in charge of the footballing operation at Tottenham have continued to back Frank and the Spurs boss is convinced he will not be sacked before Sunday.
Thomas Frank has been in contact with the Tottenham hierarchy
Frank’s comments after Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle will infuriate the North London club’s supporters, as he has sought to share the blame aimed in his direction.
According to the Tottenham manager, he is not the only person who deserves to face frustration and he has also compared his team’s current circumstances to last season.
Frank told TNT Sports: “I understand the frustration, I also understand the easiest thing is to point at me. That’s fair, that’s part of the job unfortunately.
“I also know one thing, I’ll work day and night very hard to do everything I can to turn [things] around, but also it’s never only one person, although I think it’s fair to say that this situation we’ve also been in last year.
“So this is something we need to get through and improve and I’m not in doubt that I’m part of that.
When asked if he was worried about being sacked before the North London derby, Frank responded: “No, I spoke to them [the Tottenham hierarchy] yesterday, so no.”
Tottenham’s head coach doubled down on his statement, insisting that the attitudes of the supporters towards him will have no bearing on the board’s decision concerning his future.
He then added: “What I do is I will work very hard to make sure we do everything we can to put a competitive team out there and do everything we can.”
Spurs must sack Frank before it is too late
Tottenham are incredibly lucky that West Ham were denied a victory over Manchester United due to an equaliser late into stoppage time. Had this not occurred, Spurs would only be three points clear of the relegation zone.
This gap could be closed soon anyway, as realistically speaking, Tottenham are highly unlikely to gather any points against Arsenal at the weekend.
With safety now a real concern, the Spurs hierarchy must end the Frank experiment immediately and hope for a new manager bounce in the forthcoming weeks.
