Islamabad Police Detain 65 Suspects, Including 7 Afghans, in Security Operation
Islamabad Capital Territory police detained 65 individuals, including 7 Afghan nationals, during a large-scale search and clearance operation in the Sabzi Mandi area of the capital.
According to reports, the operation was carried out under supervision of senior Pakistani officials, with police teams conducting coordinated searches across commercial and residential locations.
Security operations in Islamabad have increased in recent months following concerns about rising crime and security threats in densely populated neighborhoods and commercial districts.
Pakistani authorities have also intensified documentation and monitoring of foreign nationals, particularly Afghan refugees, amid broader national security and migration management concerns.
Police inspected 472 individuals, searched 93 shops and five hotels, and checked 137 motorcycles along with 17 vehicles during the extensive overnight operation.
Authorities transferred suspects and 21 motorcycles considered suspicious to police stations for further legal investigation and verification of documents and possible criminal involvement.
Police stated the purpose of the operation was to identify suspicious elements, prevent crime, and strengthen public safety measures for residents across the federal capital.
The operation comes as Pakistan continues increased detentions of Afghan migrants, reflecting growing pressure on authorities to balance public security with humanitarian and migration concerns.
