MARIN CITY
More parking
set for streets
The Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution Tuesday to restore parking spaces on Cole Drive and parts of Drake Avenue.
Marin City residents asked the county to remove the red curb no-parking zones to create more room for vehicles, according to a staff report by John Neville, a public works engineer.
“Many of the existing parking restrictions date back to the 1970’s through the 1990’s,” Neville wrote. “The parking restrictions from that time no longer serve the needs of the community.”
Restrictions will remain in place near fire hydrants and pedestrian crossings.
The plan is expected to add about 36 parking spaces.

Council eases
building fines
The City Council has reduced a construction time limit penalty from $698,400 to $339,600.
The building project at 431 Golden Gate Ave. involved a two-story addition, an accessory dwelling unit and other work, according to a city staff report. The city approved the project in 2019 and granted several extensions. The city deemed the project complete on March 25, 2025 and determined the project went 627 days past the construction time limit.
The property owners appealed to the City Council, saying the project was stalled by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, dry rot and leaks that needed to be abated, problems with contractors, delays by Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and bad weather, the staff report said.
The city planning staff recommended knocking 287 days off the penalty because of circumstances beyond the property owners’ control. The council held a hearing on Monday, reduced the overrun to 299 days and cut the penalty accordingly, said Rebecca Markwick, the planning and building director.
WEATHER
Rain expected
into Thursday
The rainfall that started Tuesday afternoon in the North Bay is expected to persist until Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Most areas will get about 0.5 to 0.75 inches of rain, with about an inch at higher peaks.
“Rainfall rates are pretty mild through the whole event,” meteorologist Brayden Murdock said. “For most of the area it will be an easygoing storm compared to previous ones.”
