Justin Baldoni’s $9M Home Sale Might Signal the High Cost of His Blake Lively Legal Battle
Justin Baldoni’s trial versus Blake Lively doesn’t go to court until May, but his latest move might indicate just how expensive a legal case is.
The 42-year-old actor has listed his Ojai, California estate on the market for $8.88 million, according to Realtor.com. The home was posted on February 5 after Baldoni and his wife, Emily, tried to find a long-term tenant for the property at $40,000 per month.
The sprawling compound boasts 10 acres with a stunning 5,200-square-foot home, a “yoga dome,” and a “guest dome.” According to the listing, Baldoni’s property was “designed as both a luxury residence and a retreat and event venue, the property delivers a lifestyle unlike anything else in the region.”
The couple purchased the estate in 2020 for $2.2 million and then spent two years updating the home to add their personal touches. In April 2023, they opened the doors to Architectural Digest for a feature, which showcased the indoor-outdoor California lifestyle.
“We had a little bit of a vision. When we went to Tulum and parts of Mexico, we would take pictures of lamps, or couches—just as inspiration—and then we started to put together a Pinterest board of things that we liked,” Baldoni gushed about the decor. “[Also] my mom is a feng shui master. Some people don’t believe in it, but I can tell you, being the son of a woman who’s done it for 30 years, you can feel the energy flow of a place.”
In December 2024, Baldoni was sued by Lively for sexual harassment and a “hostile work environment” after filming It Ends With Us with him. Her filing led to a series of countersuits between Baldoni, their publicists, and The New York Times, which chronicled Lively’s side of the story, including text messages.
Baldoni’s lawsuit against The New York Times for defamation was struck down in court in June 2025, and the publication is seeking to recover more than $150,000 in attorneys’ fees from his production company, Wayfarer Studios, per Law Commentary. The costs are adding up as Lively’s case against the director moves forward — and it’s not a cheap lawsuit to pursue.
It could be why Baldoni is trying to find a buyer for his dream home in Ojai; the financial pressure, along with the stress of a legal case, is a lot to bear.
