Jill Zarin & Bethenny Frankel Tried To Hide Their Terrible Reactions To Bad Bunny's Halftime Show, But Fans Won't Let Them
Hitting the delete button wasn’t enough for Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin to silence backlash of their reactions to Bad Bunny’s halftime show at the 2026 Super Bowl.
The former stars of The Real Housewives of New York City are separately getting backlash over comments they each made about the Puerto Rican rapper’s performance in since-deleted videos, even after Frankel’s attempts to backtrack on her statements.
Here’s what happened after Bad Bunny’s vibrant performance which featured a shoutout to all the countries in the Americas, including his native Puerto Rico.
What Did Jill Zarin Say About Bad Bunny?
Zarin called Bad Bunny’s performance “the worst halftime show ever” and criticized him for performing in Spanish. “I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish and, quite frankly, grabbing his G [groin] area, I think it was totally inappropriate. You’ve got all these young kids watching the Super Bowl and he doesn’t have to be grabbing himself every five seconds because he’s so insecure,” she said in an Instagram post she swiftly deleted, but not before some followers screen-recorded the video.

She added: “I don’t speak Spanish, I would have liked to have known the words he was saying, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing […] I think it was a political statement, and I’m not taking a side one way or the other, I just do, I think it was an ICE thing and I just think that the NFL sold out.”
Needless to say, Zarin is facing heated backlash online, including from her former company, Zarin Fabrics. “Zarin Fabrics stands firmly against racism, discrimination, and rhetoric that seeks to exclude or diminish people based on identity, culture, or background,” the company shared in an Instagram statement. “We want to be absolutely clear that Jill Zarin has not had ownership of or been associated with Zarin Fabrics for several years.”
What Did Bethenny Frankel Say About Bad Bunny?
Frankel initially questioned whether it was right for Bad Bunny to use his halftime performance to express “personal, cultural, political views.”
“Can’t wait to get cancelled for this,” Frankel began in a since-deleted TikTok posted after the Super Bowl. “The question remains. Should these entertainment vehicles, whether the Grammys, the Emmys, the Oscars, the Super Bowl, should this be the place for personal, cultural, political views to be expressed?”
“Certainly there are major world events that take place, whether COVID or tragedies, 9/11, and it’s unavoidable that it’s discussed, but where is the line?” she continued. Frankel went on to compare Bad Bunny’s performance to “Dave Chapelle expressing himself” by sharing transphobic views onstage in 2021, Richard Gere “getting into trouble” by criticizing the Chinese government at the 1993 Oscars and Billie Eilish speaking against ICE in her Grammys 2026 acceptance speech.
“Where is the line?” Frankel asked again, mentioning that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos aren’t “allowed to express any opinions about anything going on” during Live With Kelly and Mark, concluding, “That show… they can barely discuss anything going on. It’s an entertainment vehicle, and they keep it that way.”
After deleting this video, Frankel appeared to change her tune in a TikTok posted on Monday, February 9 amid widespread praise for Bad Bunny’s performance. “So my take on Bad Bunny and his performance at the Super Bowl is that he is an artist expressing himself, his music and his experience as a Puerto Rican man in America,” Frankel said. “Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican man in America on the largest stage in the world, which is very inspirational to people because that is him expressing his experience in his first language.”
However, fans didn’t take the switch up lightly, commenting, “That’s right. You better walk it back quick,” while another added, “Nahh put your original video back up.”
In a screenshot shared on Reddit, Frankel allegedly wrote, “No one has done more for Puerto Rico than I have,” in response to a fan who told her, “Walk it back Bethenny.”
