Savannah Guthrie’s Mom’s Alleged Kidnappers Issued a Terrifying Warning, Source Says
The ransom note deadlines in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy, have come and gone, and the family is left with more questions than answers.
The terror they are going through is unimaginable, and TMZ’s Harvey Levin revealed new details in the ransom note the media outlet received now that the Monday, February 9 deadline has passed.
“I’ll read you one line from the ransom note we received,” he shared on the February 9 episode of CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront show. “And they say, ‘It is in the best interest of everyone to have this completed as soon as possible.'”
Levin also noted, “This was way back when the first ransom note was issued.”
While investigators have not verified if any of the ransom notes are real, it’s the only tip they’ve really had to go on. Still, former FBI agent Michael Harrigan pointed out that there could be some clues in the ransom notes that it is a “scam.”
“If you’re domestic, why would you ever put ‘USD?’ You put 6 million,” he told the New York Post. “Why would you use that if you’re a domestic person? That points to somebody who might be potentially outside the country.”
FBI officials shared in a statement on Monday that they were “not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers” after the second deadline passed. They also confirmed that they had not “identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.”
The investigation feels like it has stalled to outsiders, but the Guthrie family isn’t losing hope that Nancy will be found safe and sound.
“We believe that somehow, someway, she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place,” the Today show anchor said on her Instagram page on Monday. “We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where, and we need your help.”
Savannah described it as their “hour of desperation” and that they were seeking the public’s “help” to solve the case.
The ransom remains unpaid as of Tuesday, and Nancy has been missing since the early hours of February 1.
