Nicky Cadden: We're Aware Of Derby Importance
Nicky Cadden revealed to the media that the squad are in high spirits ahead of Tuesday night's Edinburgh Derby at Tynecastle Park.
Throughout his career, Cadden is unbeaten against Hearts - winning four out of five matches against the Gorgie club during his time at both Livingston and Hibs.
Three of those five showings have came in green and white, with Nicky providing two assists across three derby victories.
Looking ahead to our midweek meeting at Tynecastle, our wing-back told the media that our new signings have been made aware of how special Edinburgh Derbies are to play in.
“We know how big a game it is. At the start of the season you always look out for these games.
"We always want to play in these games and we're telling the new boys how good these games are when you win them.
"Obviously everybody knows how big a game this is for both teams, so we'll try our best to win it and we'll see what happens.
"We try to focus on the good times when we played there and how we played against them last time because I thought we'd done really well.
"In the first game there wasn't a lot in it. I don't think it was a great game for the neutral, but the last minute goal kind of kills it. The second game I thought we were the better team.
"We're feeling good. We've had a couple of [disappointing] results, but I think we've only been beat once in eight league games, so it's not all doom and gloom - we're happy in there."
Nicky was unavailable for four matches following our Edinburgh Derby win at Easter Road at the tailend of December, but has since gained match sharpness ahead of Tuesday night's clash.
In two February outings, Nicky has helped Hibs keep a clean sheet against Rangers prior to providing two crucial late deliveries against Dundee United to turn the match on it's head in our favour.
Speaking to the media, the wing-back revealed he battled illness while recovering from his calf injury but insists he is ready to go on Tuesday night.
"Obviously I had done my calf and probably shouldn't have played the last derby, but obviously it's a derby game so I'm definitely playing that. I think the gamble paid off. I created the first goal and then it just flared up again.
"We had to make sure it was right this time to come back - and then I was ill a couple weeks ago so I was in a pickle, but I'm all good now."
