Teen arrested in connection with Half Moon Bay shooting
HALF MOON BAY — A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a shooting last week in Half Moon Bay, authorities said.
Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Iris Lane around 10:45 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspect who had “discharged and brandished” a gun before driving away, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage.
Witnesses provided descriptions of the teen and his car, which deputies later found on Highway 92.
The teen sped away from deputies when they tried to pull him over, the sheriff’s office said. Spike strips were ultimately used to bring the car to a stop near Pilarcitos and Oak avenues.
Multiple 9mm rounds and a spent casing were found inside the car, the sheriff’s office said.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of crimes including assaulting a person with a semi-automatic firearm, brandishing a firearm, negligently discharging a firearm, evading a peace officer and driving under the influence of alcohol, the sheriff’s office said.
