Jake Paul's Reaction to Fiancée's Gold Medal Going Viral
YouTube star turned pro boxer Jake Paul watched in person as his fiancée Jutta Leerdam won Olympic speedskating gold in Milan, Italy Monday morning, sharing the moment on social media.
Leerdam, 27, of the Netherlands, broke the record in the women's 100m speedskating event with a time of 1:12.31. She finished ahead of her teammate Femke Kok and Japan's Miho Takagi.
Leerdam previously won silver in the same event at the 2022 Winter Olympics, coming in behind Takagi.
Paul broke down in tears after the race
Paul posted video of his emotional reaction on Instagram. The 29-year-old influencer could be seen crying as he celebrated with Leerdam's family.
"MY BABY JUST SET THE OLYMPIC WORLD RECORD," Paul wrote on the video, along with the caption, "IM SO PROUD OF YOU @juttaleerdam."
In a second video, Paul captured himself sweeping Leerdam off her feet and giving her a kiss.
"We just witnessed one of the most important sporting moments ever. The doc will tell. Words cant describe how proud of you I am. @juttaleerdam," he wrote in the caption.
More on Paul and Leerdam's relationship
Paul and Leerdam met in 2023, and went public with their relationship in April of that year.
“She’s the best woman in the world, and she’s always supporting me, and she inspires me, and she works even harder than I do as an athlete,” Paul said in November 2024. “I know she’s going to be world champion and win Olympic gold, so I need to win the world championship belt as well. She has just brought the best out of me as a human.”
In late March 2025, the couple announced their engagement.
"We’re engaged," the two wrote in a post shared on Instagram. "We can’t wait to spend forever together."
Paul had a controversial Sunday evening
Paul, who owns a mansion in Puerto Rico, took heat for his tweet protesting against Puerto Rican-born singer Bad Bunny's Super Bowlhalftime show.
"Purposefully turning off the halftime show. Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them)," Paul wrote. "You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that."
After numerous people, including Paul's own brother Logan, called him out for his take and pointed out that Bad Bunny is an actual American citizen, the Ohio native backtracked somewhat.
"To clarify: I wasn’t calling anyone a “fake citizen” because they’re from Puerto Rico," he claimed. "I live in Puerto Rico, and I love Puerto Rico. I have used my platform to support Puerto Rico time and time again and will always do so.
"But if you’re publicly criticizing ICE who are doing their job and openly hating on America, I’m going to speak on it. Period. That’s the same reason I called out Hunter Hess. If you benefit from a country and the platform it gives you, but publicly disrespect it at the same time, that’s what I mean by being a fake citizen. And I agree love is more powerful than hate. Love America."
