THE LOWDOWN
We head into the third Edinburgh Derby clash of the campaign off the back of a positive start to February in the William Hill Premiership.
Following a 0-0 draw against Rangers, we defeated Dundee United in a thrilling encounter at Easter Road last Wednesday.
Martin Boyle fired Hibs in front in the first 45 before United struck back to take a late lead following quick-fire goals from Ross Graham and Max Watters.
Determined not to yield any points, the Hibees – flush with new signings all over the park – fought back to force an equaliser before debutant Ante Šuto’s looping header sealed a memorable victory in stoppage time.
Šuto was one of the three players making his first appearance in green and white, with Felix Passlack and Munashe Garananga both making their full debuts in Leith.
Four points from six to kick-off the month leaves fifth-placed Hibs four points behind Motherwell in the Premiership standings.
TEAM NEWS
Josh Mulligan, Grant Hanley, Chris Cadden, Jamie McGrath and Warren O’Hora all missed out on Saturday against Dundee United.
Mulligan will definitely miss the Edinburgh Derby, whilst David Gray will provide a full team news update when he speaks to the press on Monday afternoon.
THE HOSTS
Derek McInnes’ side are currently leading the William Hill Premiership, sitting three points ahead of Rangers and six points ahead of Celtic, who hold a game in hand over Hearts, respectively.
Hearts have taken four points from nine in their last three league matches. A 2-2 draw against Celtic was followed up with a 3-0 win over Dundee United, before the Gorgie side suffered a 1-0 away defeat to St Mirren last time out. Craig Halkett’s early dismissal before the half-hour mark hindered his side as Miguel Freckleton headed in with just minutes to spare at St Mirren Park.
Our last Edinburgh Derby meeting in December went the way of the Hibees as Jamie McGrath, Josh Campbell and Kieron Bowie each struck to secure a memorable 3-2 win at Easter Road.
