Pedestrian dies in Hayward traffic collision
HAYWARD — A pedestrian died Saturday morning after she was struck by a car in the city’s downtown, police said.
The coroner’s bureau was working to confirm the woman’s name and notify her family before her identity is released publicly. She is believed to be between 30 and 40 years old.
The collision happened about 6:40 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and B Street.
Police have not yet said if the woman was in a crosswalk or in a traffic lane. The woman was taken to a hospital where she later died.
The driver of the vehicle that struck her remained at the scene and provided a statement to police. Police said it is not believed drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision, which remains under investigation.
