18 power shortcuts every Excel user should know
I used to be clunky in Microsoft Excel not knowing the most efficient way to do things. That was before I learned some helpful shortcuts. Now I move around my tables super quickly and efficiently. Here are some Excel shortcuts every user should know.
The Excel shortcuts
Ctrl + A (click within the dataset) – selects your entire data set.
Ctrl + Space (click within the column) – selects the whole column
Shift + Space (click within the row) – selects entire row
Ctrl + Home – Navigate to the top left of your dataset
Ctrl + End – Navigate to bottom right corner of your dataset
Ctrl + Arrow keys – Jump from one side of table to the other in the direction of the arrow
Ctrl + Shift + Arrow keys – Jump from one side of table to the other in the direction of the arrow but selects everything in its path on the way.
Ctrl + Shift + L – Adds in filters
Ctrl + Shift + Plus sign (select a row) – Adds a row to the table
Ctrl + Minus sign (select a row) – Deletes the row
Fn + F11 (click inside the dataset) – Turns the data into a separate chart in its own sheet.
Ctrl + 0 (select the column) – Hides the column
Ctrl + 9 (select the row) – Hides the row
Alt + ; (reveals the lines where the hidden rows and columns are. You can double click on them to expand them).
Ctrl + Shift + ; – Inserts the current time
Ctrl + ; – Inserts the current date
Alt + A + M (Click inside the table) – Automatically removes duplicate rows.
Alt + = (select the table) – Autosums all the rows and columns
