The Pepsi vs. Coke War Is Back, And Pepsi’s Opening Move Was Stealing Coke’s Polar Bear And Recreating The Coldplay Cheating Scandal
Pepsi’s Super Bowl ad “The Choice” might be the most weird and edgy commercial of the year.
It starts by putting Coca-Cola’s iconic polar bear through a blind taste test, and the bear picks Pepsi.
What follows is a full existential crisis: the bear wandering the streets, lying on a therapist’s couch (played by Taika Waititi), and questioning everything it’s ever known. But the real kicker comes at the end. The bear meets another polar bear who also loves Pepsi, and the two end up at a concert together, where they’re shown cuddled up on the Jumbotron kiss cam. Sound familiar?
It’s a direct parody of last summer’s viral Coldplay concert moment, when a married CEO and his coworker were caught together on camera in one of the most public cheating scandals of 2025. Except this time, the bears don’t flinch. They hold up their Pepsi cans as Queen’s “I Want to Break Free” plays in the background. Pepsi didn’t just take a shot at Coke, they turned the whole internet’s memory into their punchline
