Police Officer Killed in Targeted Attack in South Waziristan, Pakistan
A police officer in South Waziristan, Pakistan, was killed in a targeted shooting by unidentified gunmen, while two family members were seriously injured.
Pakistani security officials reported that a police officer was fatally shot on Sunday by unidentified armed men in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Two other individuals, the officer’s father and brother, were also wounded during the attack and are receiving urgent medical treatment.
The incident took place in the Boya area of Upper South Waziristan; the slain officer was a local resident of Shakai district.
Deputy Commandant Asghar Ali Shah confirmed that the killed officer was the brother of Mohammad Jan Wazir, a political secretary in Lower South Waziristan.
The attackers fled the scene immediately, and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting.
South Waziristan has experienced recurring security challenges, including targeted attacks on law enforcement personnel, amid ongoing efforts to maintain stability in the region.
Local authorities have increased security measures in the district to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of civilians and police forces.
