Drake Maye Emotional While Giving Praise To Mike Vrabel After Super Bowl
The New England Patriots suffered an absolutely brutal defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.
It’s the kind of loss that typically comes exclusively with negativity, but not for this team…
Drake Maye, who admittedly played one of the worst games of his life, took time to share praise for the man who helped an overlooked team overachieve all season long — head coach Mike Vrabel.
“He was the heartbeat. No doubt about that,” Maye said, per video provided by FOX Sports. “He’s the reason why we’re here. He’s always the same, and I’m looking forward to (continuing) my relationship with him for a long time. Great person and one hell of a football coach.”
Maye, who fought back tears throughout portions of his postgame media availability, also shared some love for his teammates.
“Man, I’m so proud. That’s what probably chokes me up the most,” Maye said, per video provided by CLNS Media. “This is something that I’m glad to be apart of.”
The Patriots should be able to find solace in the fact that they’re set up for future success, and though an opportunity was clearly missed on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium, they have the right head coach in Vrabel and the right quarterback in Maye.
