Patriots’ Plan For Stefon Diggs In Super Bowl LX Revealed
The New England Patriots want to utilize Stefon Diggs early and often in Super Bowl LX.
New England is set to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, and the Patriots enter the game as underdogs.
Yet, heading into the matchup, New England wants to get the ball to Diggs in the middle of the field, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe.c
“Expect the Patriots to feed off Stefon Diggs’ intense emotion today,” Wolfe said on NFL Network on Sunday. “With both sides rewarded for taking a risk on each other. Patriots de facto general manager Eliot Wolf said his initial question was about signing a 31-year-old receiver coming off a torn ACL. They had a March free agency meeting where Diggs was open and transparent about who he is, the mistakes he’s made, felt his passion, Wolf did.
“He said his competitiveness is a strength and not a weakness. And then it was building with Drake Maye. Diggs told me our common language is our intense competitiveness. Diggs said he’s fully accepting of me as the crazy receiver I am. One thing to watch tonight, the Patriots want to give Stefon Diggs the ball in the middle of the field, where he can use his yards after catch ability and potentially win his first Super Bowl in his 11th season.”
Diggs has struggled to make an impact in the playoffs so far. He had just 17 yards against the Denver Broncos, and in three playoff games, he has 11 receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown.
But if the Patriots are going to pull off the upset at Super Bowl LX, New England will need Diggs to be a key factor in their offense.
New England is a 4.5-point underdog against Seattle in Super Bowl LX. Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
