Odisha special needs student enrolment high, but experts seek more trained educators

Odisha boasts a significant number of schools for children with special needs, yet experts highlight a critical shortage of trained educators. While the state enrolled over 82,000 CwSN in 2024-25, the current special educator numbers fall short of mandated ratios, particularly in rural areas. The government plans to recruit 4,500 special educators over three years to address this gap.
