Carrick makes 1 big change | Predicted Man Utd XI vs Tottenham with 3 players unavailable
Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur in today’s early Premier League kick-off at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have found momentum with three straight league wins under interim head coach Michael Carrick.
They go into today’s game with confidence behind them and will aim to end their eight-match winless run against Spurs.
Ahead of the match, Carrick will be without Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and Patrick Dorgu.
We anticipate Carrick to make a solitary change for the encounter.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has been an undisputed starter in goal since making his debut against Sunderland in October. He has kept just three clean sheets, but has made some spectacular saves. The Belgian is guaranteed to start in goal ahead of Altay Bayindir.
The backline could stay the same from the last three matches. Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez have been fantastic as a centre-back pairing. Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw have likewise excelled from the full-back positions for the Mancunian giants.
There is a temptation to field Noussair Mazraoui ahead of Dalot at right-back due to his better defensive and attacking attributes, but the latter has received plenty of praise from Carrick. We don’t see a switch.
In midfield, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo are assured to keep their places. Casemiro has been in sparkling form. He was sensational against Fulham with a powerful headed goal and a no-look assist for Matheus Cunha’s strike.
In the final third, there could be a solitary change. Benjamin Sesko could be rewarded with a starting role on the back of scoring a stoppage-time winner against Fulham. It could be Amad Diallo dropping to the bench to facilitate Sesko’s return.
Amad has been solid with his work rate and has been unlucky in front of goal. Still, Carrick could make the hard decision to drop him for Sesko to lead the line. This would mean a change of position of Bryan Mbeumo, who has played upfront.
The Cameroonian star could move to the right wing. Matheus Cunha is assured to start on the left wing with Dorgu injured. Captain Bruno Fernandes will obviously start as the attacking midfielder. He has six goal contributions in 12 games against Spurs.
