The AI-generated clip appeared at the end of a one-minute-long video, which focused on the election fraud that ensued during the 2020 presidential election. The controversial clip showcased former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, as apes. Other Democrat leaders, such as Hillary Clinton, Hakeem Jeffries, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Zohran Mamdani, Chuck Schumer, Kamala Harris, and Joe Biden, were also depicted as various jungle animals. Trump was in the clip as the lion, portraying himself as the ‘King of the Jungle.’
Democrats and Republicans called on the President to remove the video, deeming it racist for its depiction of the Obamas as apes. “Praying it was fake because it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House. The President should remove it,” Sen. Tim Scott responded on X.

The clip was created by a user on X known as Xerias, who is known for creating memes, but did not issue a personal response about the backlash. Instead, the user reposted various comments that supported the video’s depiction of the Obamas, including, “Obama should be in prison. Why should I care if he gets made fun of in a video?” from Derrick Evans.
Other prominent figures on the Right are defending the video’s purpose. Dinesh D’Souza posted on X that the video was “both amusing and harmless. We’re not in the mood to fall for another race hoax from the Left.”

White House officials attempted to resolve the issue with the media, telling NBC News that a White House staffer posted the video and it was later taken down. “This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from ‘The Lion King.’ Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the outlet.
The president is known to troll with AI-generated clips, especially throughout his second term. In a previous post, Trump had posted a video of himself and Cristiano Ronaldo “playing football” in the White House. Trump shared another photo of Taylor Swift endorsing his campaign in 2024.
