Tiburon police arrest suspect on burglary, drug allegations
Tiburon police arrested a man accused of stealing a bicycle from a garage and items from parked vehicles.
Police received a report at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday about a burglary at a residence on Lagoon View Drive, Sgt. Rob Law said. The homeowner chased a burglar who took a bicycle worth approximately $10,000. Police found the bicycle abandoned nearby.
Officers located a potential suspect at about 2 a.m. in a vehicle parked on Ridge Road. He matched the appearance of the burglar as described by the resident and recorded by a security camera, Law said.
Inside the suspect’s vehicle, police found eight allegedly stolen credit cards and property allegedly stolen from two vehicles, Law said. Police also found suspected methamphetamine.
Martin Hernandez Gutierrez, 33, of San Francisco was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possessing stolen property and carrying controlled substances. He was booked into the Marin County Jail, where his bail was set at $50,000.
Gutierrez was arraigned Friday on related charges and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution alleges he has prior convictions for property crimes in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
