Timothy Busfield's Lawyer Responds to Indictment Charges, Says Accusations Are 'Fundamentally Unsound'
Timothy Busfield‘s lawyer is speaking out after he was indicted on child sex abuse charges.
On Friday (February 6), the 68-year-old The West Wing actor was indicted on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child by a grand jury in New Mexico.
Following news of the indictment, Busfield‘s civil attorney Stanton “Larry” Stein released a statement to JustJared.com.

“The detention hearing exposed fatal weaknesses in the State’s evidence — gaps that no amount of charging decisions can cure,” he continued. “This prosecution appears driven by something other than the facts or the law. Mr. Busfield will fight these charges at every stage and looks forward to testing the State’s case in open court — where evidence matters — not behind closed doors.”
Busfield has been accused of sexually abusing two boys, who were allegedly 7 and 8 at the time, on the set of The Cleaning Lady when he was directing an episode in 2022. He turned himself in to law enforcement in New Mexico days after his arrest warrant was issued. He was later released from custody pending trial.
The West Wing actor has previously denied any wrongdoings and said that he will “confront these lies” brought against him.
