All About Margot Robbie’s Husband, Tom Ackerley, Amid Her Controversial Wuthering Heights Press Tour
Margot Robbie is a successful, talented, and beautiful actor who has been a staple in Hollywood for over a decade. She’s got dramatic talents, comedic chops, and an IMDb list any actor would envy. And most recently, she’s starring in Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, where she has made headlines about being so attached to her co-star Jacob Elordi, despite being married to film producer and director Tom Ackerley.
This press tour has raised many questions, including who the heck Ackerley is. Well, he may be a private man, but here’s everything we know about him.
Here are just a few things we found out about him and their life together.
1. He’s British
Ackerley was born on June 13, 1990, in Surrey, U.K, but was raised in Guildford, England, alongside his three brothers. He later went to Godalming College.
2. He Started Working in Film in 2001, But Didn’t Make It FT Until 2012
Ackerley began his film career as an extra in the first three installments of the Harry Potter film series, which Robbie has proudly boasted about. However, acting wasn’t in the cards for Ackerley, who later decided to work behind the scenes. He began working as a production runner on films such as Gambit in 2012.
Then, he and Robbie started dating in 2013 after meeting on the set of the film Suite Française, in which Robbie starred as Celine and Ackerley was the third assistant director.
3. He Is a Co-Founder of LuckyChap Entertainment
In 2014, he, Robbie, and their pals, Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara, co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which was behind films like I, Tonya and Barbie (for which he got an Oscar nomination for producing it alongside Robbie, David Heyman, and Robbie Brenner).
Before that, he was part of a company called End of the Line Films, which dissolved within two years, according to Gov.UK.
4. He Changed Robbie’s Ideas on Relationships
Before Ackerley, Robbie had a very different view on relationships, and during an interview with Vogue magazine she gushed about how he changed her life.
“[Before we met] I was the ultimate single gal,” she said. “The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’ And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'”
5. He & Robbie Married in Secret
The pair were married in December 2016, during a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia.
6. They Share One Son Together
Fast-forward to Nov 2: People confirmed that the pair welcomed their first child, a son, a few weeks before her due date.
7. He & Robbie Love the New York Rangers
Robbie and Ackerley are both sports fans, and in particular, the New York Rangers. The pair have previously been spotted at an ice hockey game in Madison Square Garden — although we’re not sure how much of the game they saw.

8. He Has No Social Media
While both he and Robbie had so many social media profiles 10 years ago, he has no social media anymore, making his personal life as private as can be.
9. He’s Super Tall
No, seriously, he’s like 6′ 3¼!
10. He Helps Robbie With Her Anxiety
In an August 2021 interview with The Mirror, Robbie discussed how Ackerley helps her anxiety when she stars in a new movie, even when she revisits a character she’s done before, like Harley Quinn. “Even though Harley [Quinn] is a character I have played before, I still got scared before shooting because I’m always nervous to start any job,” she said. “I have this complete crisis of faith and think, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m not even good at acting, and I can’t do this.’ Every time I do a movie, I turn to my husband, and I’m like, ‘I don’t think I can do this.’ He says something like, ‘You do this every time. You’ll be fine.’”
