Tottenham Hotspur have already spoken to Cristian Romero about their plans, amidst reports linking the centre-back with a move away from the club.
Reports over recent days indicate that Romero has decided to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, amidst interest from La Liga.
This was after the Spurs captain termed it ‘disgraceful’ that the Lilywhites only had 11 fit first-team players against Man City, which many saw as a direct dig against the hierarchy for failing to sign more players in January.
This is not the first time Romero has expressed his displeasure with the Tottenham board, but it has now emerged that the club have reacted very quickly to the defender’s outburst.

They also claim to have heard from sources close to the situation that the 27-year-old wants to move to a club that regularly competes in the latter stages of the Champions League and is ‘ready to quit’ the Lilywhites.
Romero is said to be attracting ‘serious interest’ from both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid ahead of the summer window.
The report adds that despite the centre-back’s growing frustrations, Spurs insiders have moved to ‘reassure’ their captain that there are plans for a ‘significant rebuild’ of the squad in the summer.

TEAMtalk say that Tottenham officials are confident of making ‘major’ signings to bolster their squad in the next transfer window.
For now, the club are said to be ‘holding firm’ and have ’emphasised their ambition to retain their skipper’ as they attempt to make a ‘renewed push for success’ next season.
The report also adds that any potential departure of Romero would involve a substantial fee in the region of around £70m-£80m.
