Ariana Airlines Expands Kabul–Delhi Flights to Boost Trade
Ariana Airlines expands cargo and passenger flights to India, aiming to boost trade links and support alternative routes amid regional tensions.
Ariana Afghan Airlines announced an increase in cargo and passenger flights between Kabul and New Delhi, now operating six weekly cargo flights and two passenger services.
The airline said the move aims to strengthen commercial ties between Afghanistan and India and improve the flow of goods and travelers on the route.
The expansion comes as trade routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan remain disrupted, with border crossings and ports still closed, affecting regional commerce.
Amid strained relations with Pakistan, the Taliban authorities have shifted economic focus toward expanding cooperation with India and Iran as alternative trade partners.
Taliban officials have also urged Afghan traders to use alternative routes instead of relying on Pakistani ports for imports and exports.
Trade between Afghanistan and India surpassed one billion dollars in a recent reporting period, reflecting growing economic cooperation despite regional political challenges.
During a recent visit to New Delhi, Taliban commerce officials and Indian counterparts agreed to appoint special trade attachés in each other’s embassies to further strengthen economic coordination.
