Nancy Guthrie Updates: More Ransom Note Details, Ransom Deadline Dates, If Anyone Has Been Cleared as a Suspect, Blood Spatter Confirmation & More

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos and FBI Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke gave a press conference today (February 5) about the missing mom of Today show host Savannah Guthrie.

If you don’t know, the 84-year-old grandmother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing since this weekend. There have been reports about a ransom note, possible suspects, and more.

We now have more official updates, including confirmation that the blood spatter seen outside her house is from her, confirmation that there are no suspects still, there has been no proof of life, no second contact from the more credible ransom note, and more.

A reward is also now in place for $50,000.

They did decline to answer many questions, but gave some updates.

Blood Spatter: The Sheriff confirmed the blood on the front steps did belong to Nancy. The Sheriff added, “We’re at that phase now where sometimes we’re waiting, we’re waiting for analysis, we’re waiting for lab reports.”

Suspects: “I know there’s been a lot out there about suspects. At this time, we have not identified a suspect or a person of interest in this case. We have nobody of interest. We’re just not there yet.”

If anyone Nancy was with on Saturday Night has been cleared: No one is ruled out from Saturday night hangout. It was said to be a family gathering.

Forced Entry Reports: They are not discussing details about this.

Uber Driver report: They confirmed they spoke to an Uber driver who apparently delivered Nancy to a location on Saturday. The sheriff said they spoke to that driver and “got that information.”

Who was last to see her?: A “family member.”

Ransom Note Details: There was a ransom note that 2 details about an Apple Watch and a Flood Light that were not public information. They don’t want to reveal other facts so that imposters could send fake ransom notes.

Deadline: The first deadline in the possible ransom note is 5 pm later today. A second demand was said to be for next Monday. They are not going into specific details about what would happen if the demands were not met. Again, they haven’t made second contact.

Has there been more contact since the ransom note?: There has been no contact after the initial ransom note, and the family wants proof of life.

Proof of Life: There has been no proof of life. “To my knowledge, we are still looking for Nancy…We operate from a position that, until we know…she’s out there. She’s alive.”

Arrests: There was an arrest made for a false ransom note after it was determined someone was trying to profit from this situation.
