One man shot, another pistol whipped in Oakland robbery
OAKLAND — One man was shot and another man was pistol whipped during a robbery in East Oakland Wednesday night, authorities said.
Both men were hospitalized but their conditions were not immediately available.
The violence happened about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of 81st Avenue, near International Boulevard.
The two men, both 37, who live in the area, were sitting in a parked vehicle when a car stopped and two men, one wearing a mask who was armed with a gun, got out and approached the vehicle.
According to initial police reports, the man sitting in the driver’s seat was pistol whipped and robbed of his wallet that contained cash and other personal items. When he appeared as if he was going to resist, he was shot at but the bullet missed him and hit the other man in the shoulder, according to the initial reports.
The suspects then fled in the vehicle eastbound on International Boulevard.
Detailed descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle, believed to be a Lexus, were not released.
