Lewis Family may make big Tottenham move after Daniel Levy holds ENIC sale talks
Amid reports that Daniel Levy is holding talks over selling his share in ENIC, it has now emerged that Tottenham’s majority owners may make a big move.
Daniel Levy stepped down from his role as Tottenham chairman back in September after being at the helm of the North London club for 24 years.
However, the former Spurs chairman still holds a stake in the club as he owns a minority 29.88 per cent share in ENIC, which is the 86.91 per cent majority stakeholder of Tottenham Hotspur.
The remaining 70.12 per cent of ENIC is owned by the Joe Lewis family trust, with Lewis’s daughter, Vivienne, and his son, Charles, becoming more actively involved in the running of Tottenham over recent months.
The Lewis family could be open to purchasing Daniel Levy’s shares
Last week, it emerged that Levy was in talks with Hong Kong businessman Ng Wing Fai over selling his stake in Tottenham for a fee in the region of £1 billion.
However, Football Insider has now revealed that, according to some sources, there are question marks around whether the consortium Levy is in talks with is the right group to get control of Tottenham, alongside the Lewis family.
As a result, Tottenham’s majority owners are open to purchasing Daniel Levy’s shares if the former Spurs chairman fails to find a suitable buyer.
However, should a suitable buyer be found, the Lewis family would be willing to work alongside new investors to take the club forward.
The Lewis family have turned down interest in Spurs
Football Insider add that Tottenham’s owners value the club overall at around £4 billion.
However, the Lewis family have already rejected several expressions of interest in buying Tottenham over the last few months.
This includes a £4.5 billion attempt to purchase Tottenham by a consortium headed by Brooklyn Earick, which was also unequivocally rejected by the club’s owners.
