Man United vs Tottenham Combined XI: Red Devils blow Spurs away in ruthless selection
Manchester United will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Saturday in what promises to be a pivotal Premier League showdown.
Michael Carrick, who represented both clubs during his playing career, enjoyed his most successful and trophy-laden years with the Red Devils.
The caretaker head coach has made a flying start to life in the dugout at United, winning all three of his opening matches.
Another victory against Spurs could help them solidify their push for UEFA Champions League qualification.
With so much at stake, we have put together a combined XI from both squads based on current form and player availability.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Goalkeeper
Senne Lammens
While Guglielmo Vicario has not been poor at Spurs, Lammens edges him for the spot between the sticks due to his reliability.
The 23-year-old has been a breath of fresh air at United, producing crucial saves at key moments to steady the backline.
Defence
Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw
The back four is completely dominated by United.
Pedro Porro would have been a strong contender at right-back if fit, but his absence makes Dalot an automatic selection.
Maguire and Martinez will lead the defence. Cristian Romero is a tempting alternative but Maguire is in better form.
Destiny Udogie has clear potential, but Shaw’s consistency makes him the stronger option at left-back.
Midfield
Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes
Joao Palhinha can be destructive on his best days, but his inconsistency, combined with Casemiro’s outstanding 2025–26 campaign, makes it easy for us to settle the number six spot.
Kobbie Mainoo has started the last three matches, providing composure, control and authority in midfield. Spurs are crying out for a midfielder of his profile.
Not many players in the world can replace Bruno Fernandes, and he leads this team.
Attack
Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko
Mbeumo has been one of the best forwards in the league this campaign and earns a place on the right flank.
Cunha is in scintillating form, racking up five goals and two assists over the past two months.
The Brazilian gets the nod on the left, with Benjamin Sesko leading the line.
Dominic Solanke bagged a brace against Manchester City, which will boost his confidence after a disrupted first half of the campaign.
However, Sesko is in a purple patch having scored four goals in his last four outings. He spearheads the attack and completes total domination of United.
Spurs supporters may feel hard done by but the reality is that Tottenham have struggled to build any real momentum this season.
They currently sit 14th in the table, a reflection of their inconsistency and stuttering form.
Injuries to key first-team players have only compounded their problems and made stability hard to find.
